Thank you for helping shape the future of the UP Scorecard

UP Scorecard developers ran a stakeholder survey through summer 2025 and the results are in! Survey respondents came from all major stakeholder groups, the largest from the reuse sector. Interest in expanding Scorecard coverage to China and increasing granularity in the US and Europe. There is near unanimous support for PDF print outs of results; development is underway!

During the summer of 2025, the Understanding Packaging (UP) Scorecard development team ran a short survey to shape the tool’s development roadmap. The survey remains open for anyone wishing to still give feedback. The survey was to 1) identify additional packaging formats and data sets to include, 2) refine the interface for faster, more intuitive workflows, and 3) create features and resources that serve a wider range of industries and roles.

We are incredibly grateful for the diverse feedback received! A few highlights are outlined below.

We listed 11 stakeholder groups in the survey and got at least one response for every stakeholder group, plus several responses for stakeholder groups we had not specifically mentioned. One third of respondents said they worked as a “reuse system provider of operator.

Respondents listed Plastic pollution and Chemicals of concern (+ impacts on human health) as the two impact areas they were most concerned about.

The UP Scorecard currently covers three regions (Global, United States, and Europe). Respondents are most interested in seeing coverage for individual US states, individual European countries, and China. If you know of good data sources to work on these regions and granularity, please get in touch!

Essentially all respondents would like to receive a user-friendly PDF summary of their Scorecard results. We hear you! This feature has been added to the development list, and the design of the report is already ongoing.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the survey or to share the survey with your network and colleagues. The UP Scorecard development team is working to structure the feedback into a development plan to bring the most utility to the most stakeholders.
